loseing energy after meals?

For the past few weeks I have been getting tired after eating, breakfast I want to crawl back into bed about 20 minutes after I finish. Lunch its the same thing and after dinner is the worst, but I still manage to go for my evening walks. I havnt really changed anything and have been going at this for a year now and I would have so much energy after eating better and healthier foods now I just have no energy anymore. Does anyone else that has been eating right for a long time notice this? I know my cereals have tons of carbs in them ( i eat total and Fiber one almost every morning with lots of fruit in it) So I expect to feel a little lethargic after breakfast but to the point where I fall asleep at my desk or crawl back into bed lol.

  1. I've never experienced that unless I really overate, which you are obviously NOT doing!

I just wanted to tell you what a good job you've done. I lost 150 pounds and have kept it off 12 years ago.

My hat is off to you!!!!

  2. I have had that happen and it was related to my diabetes. Have you had your blood sugar checked lately Becca? FYI - It is easier for your body to metabolize carbs if you eat a protein with it.

  3. Maybe you are not eating enough and exercising too much?

  4. I was going to suggest a blood check as well, though my thoughts were running more towards low iron. I'm borderline anemic, and have to keep tabs on my iron. I can always tell when my iron is low because I can not get enough sleep, and have zero energy.
Good luck figuring this out, and I hope you get your zip back soon!

  5. I was thinking the same thing... it can have something to do with blood sugar levels or your just eating too much at one time.... I don;t know. Good luck :)

  7. I would schedule an appointment with my Dr. and see what is going on, it could be a number of things. Congrats on your Weight Loss...you have done AMAZING things! :)

  8. This is completely unofficial advice, but I just remember hearing once that if you feel tired and sluggish and full after a meal, you need more protein and fewer carbs but if you feel tired and still hungry you need more food, specifically carbs. I heard that if you eat the right balance of carbs and protein that you should feel not-too-full and alert.
But, I agree...bloodwork is not a bad idea.
